Abstract

Objectives: In today's world, due to the increasing concerns about metabolic and liver diseases, natural and drug-free methods are being considered to improve liver health. In this study, the effect of regular aerobic exercise and green coffee consumption on liver lipid metabolism was investigated. Materials and methods: 28 mice were fed a high-fat diet for 12 weeks. After 12 weeks, evaluations such as body weight and blood glucose were performed. Then the mice were randomly divided into 4 groups: Control group (n=7), green coffee group (n=7), aerobic exercise group (n=7) and combination group of aerobic exercise and green coffee (n=7). Aerobic exercise group performed 5 days a week for 10 weeks and 45 minutes each session, and green coffee group was gavage with 200 mg/kg body weight of mice 3 days a week. 24 hours after the last training session and gavage, the mice were sacrificed and the samples were collected and stored for further evaluations. Results: The results showed that regular aerobic exercise along with consumption of green coffee can significantly increase the levels of Hepatic lipids and enzymes effective in endogenous fatty acid synthesis and beta-oxidation can be improved and help reduce the risk of liver diseases. Conclusion: These findings can help to develop new therapeutic approaches for the management of liver diseases. Regular exercise is an effective non-therapeutic approach for people with a wrong lifestyle, and green coffee can be an alternative to mimic some of the beneficial effects of aerobic exercise.
