The Effect of Resistance Training Using the Myoreps Method, Traditional Methods, and Their Combination on Muscular Hypertrophy, Strength, and Some Hormones In Trained Men

Abstract
The present study aimed to investigate the effect of resistance training using the Myoreps, traditional, and their combination methods on muscle hypertrophy, strength, and some hormones in trained men.

30 men (age: 26.03 ± 3.211 years, BMI: 24.843 ± 3.029 kg/m2) were randomly divided into three groups (n=10): Myoreps, traditional, and combination. Resistance training was performed 3 days a week for 10 weeks with the same training volume. The training intensity in the three groups was 75% of one repetition maximum for the first to fourth weeks, 80% for the fifth to seventh weeks, and 85% for the eighth to tenth weeks. Chest and leg press strength, testosterone, cortisol levels, and the cross-sectional area of ​​the rectus femoris, latissimus dorsi, and biceps brachii muscles were measured with ultrasound. Data were analyzed with SPSS27 software and 3×2 ANOVA and Bonferroni post hoc test at a significance level of P<0.05.

A significant increase in the cross-sectional area of ​​the biceps and rectus femoris muscles, a significant increase in leg and chest strength, was observed in the post-test compared to the pre-test. Also, a significant decrease in testosterone and cortisol was observed in the Myoreps and traditional systems (P<0.05). In between-group changes, the cross-sectional area of ​​the biceps and rectus femoris muscles and chest strength in the combined group was significantly higher compared to the other two groups (P<0.05).

It seems that the combined system has a better effect on muscle hypertrophy and the hormones affecting it compared to the traditional and Myoreps.
